I think they were happily offscreen for a while between Eric the Red and Malice? (Aside from getting dragged in to be backup X-Men a couple times.) But it seemed like every time they showed up, they were either possessed or miserable about being on the X-Men. Or happy for a page or two, just to rub in the tragedy once things went wrong for them again.
